Know your member
before the receipt prints.
One tap on the reader or one scan of the barcode, and the POS has their membership: no phone number, no app, no queue.

Member since2023Loyalty shouldn't slow down the queue.
Every second spent asking for a phone number is a second of throughput lost, and a card most customers left at home anyway.
- “Are you a member? What’s your phone number?” Every single transaction.
- Plastic cards forgotten at home; app downloads abandoned in the queue.
- Offers land in an inbox nobody opens, days after the visit.
- Reprints, replacements and plastic waste on every campaign.
- Tap the reader or scan the barcode, whichever your POS already does.
- The pass lives in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, barcode included. Nothing to download.
- Push notifications on the lock screen, on the pass they already carry.
- Balances, tiers and offers update live: no reissue, no plastic.
Four steps. None of them belong to your staff.
What a retail rollout actually includes.
Everything below ships on the same platform, with a portal for your loyalty team and one REST API for your engineers.
Tap or scan, your choice
Apple VAS and Google Smart Tap where you have NFC; QR, PDF417, Aztec, Code 128, EAN-13, Code 39, Codabar and Interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes where you have scanners. Same pass, same platform, no new hardware.
Tiers, points and stamps
Balances and tier upgrades write back to the wallet moments after the visit.
Post-purchase enrollment
Turn a paying stranger into a member without holding up the person behind them. It runs on the payment terminal, so it needs an agreement with your acquirer and is not available on every wallet. We scope it with you.
Store-level push
Segment by tier, points or last visit, and let birthday and win-back messages send themselves. Included with every pass issued.
Gift cards & coupons
Issue, redeem and top up from the same pass. No plastic to print or replace.
Nothing new for staff
The flow is the payment flow. Training is a sentence, not a session.
The same pass works past the checkout.
Cafés & hospitality
Digital stamps and prepaid cards in the wallet: never forgotten, never faded. Start from a QR code by the register on day one; add tap when you're ready. Free-coffee moments delivered as push, right when the reward unlocks. Stell for cafés and restaurants
Venues & events
Tickets, memberships and season passes in one wallet, updated when plans change. Entry by NFC tap or barcode scan, whichever your doors already speak. Reissue and revoke instantly when tickets change hands. Stell for events and venues
Check the hardware at your till
Whether a terminal reads a pass depends on the model and on the software your payment provider runs on it. The reader directory lists the models with documented support today, and a pass can carry a barcode or QR code as well, for the scanners you already have.
The four things procurement asks first.
Do we need NFC readers?
No. Where your terminals support Apple VAS and Google Smart Tap, identification rides along with the payment tap. Everywhere else the pass can carry a barcode that any retail scanner reads (QR, PDF417, Aztec or Code 128, plus EAN-13, Code 39, Codabar and Interleaved 2 of 5 on Google Wallet and iOS 27), including handhelds and self-checkout. Most chains run both, lane by lane. If a terminal refresh is on the table anyway, we are an Adyen partner and can help you scope the switch and make the introduction. And where you want tap without touching the payment fleet, standalone readers add it at any lane, service desk or click-and-collect counter; contact us and we will help you find the right hardware.
What happens to our existing loyalty platform?
It stays. Stell handles the pass lifecycle (issuing, updating, NFC identification and push) and syncs balances with your loyalty system of record over REST or a ready-made CRM integration such as Voyado Engage. Member lists come along too: Engage, Stell's messaging module, imports contacts from CSV or a Voyado Engage export directly.
How long does a rollout take?
A single-store pilot runs in staging within days. Chain rollouts are typically staged store by store over a few weeks, with the same pass design across all of them.
We run more than one brand. Does that mean more than one platform?
No. One Stell instance runs several brands or markets side by side, each with its own pass templates, member data and notification channels, kept isolated from the others. Shared infrastructure, separate programs.
What happens at the till if the connection drops?
The pass keeps working. It lives on the customer's phone, so the barcode renders and the NFC payload reads at the terminal without a round trip to any backend. Balance updates queue and apply when the connection returns.
Who owns the customer data?
You do. Stell processes pass and identification data on your behalf and hands it to your systems. We don’t build a shadow profile of your customers.
